Synopsis:

Chiswick House is an 18th century estate, now located in the suburbs of London. The estate belonged to Lord Burlington, a patron of the arts and an amateur architect. The gardens of Chiswick represent the beginning of the transition from the formal Italian and French styles, to the new English landscape style. William Kent was the primary designer of the gardens, though they have been subsequently altered.
